The Magic Schoolhouse Bus (ninety'due south series): Dorothy Ann [ISTJ]

Perceiving Functional Axis:

Introverted Sensing (Si) / Extroverted Intuition (Ne)

Dorothy Ann, or D.A as her friends sometimes phone call her, is the grade bookworm. She ever has her nose buried in a book and loves to share the facts that she reads from it. She often quotes "According to my research…" (or something akin to it) when sharing the research she's read from her books and relates information technology back to the current situation that she and her classmates are in. She prefers to stick to what she'south familiar with and take a plan (see Te), not feeling confident to improvise when Arnold gives her his great-aunt's artifact rather than his rock collection equally she planned to show on the TV show, Prove and Tell. Therefore she has to find out equally much she can most the artifact earlier she can feel confident to talk almost it on the show. Luckily she is provided with Arizona Joan's journal to assistance figure out a few possible hypotheses for what the antiquity could possibly exist (Shows and Tell) (Si-Ne).

Another of her passions as well books is astronomy, which proves to be helpful in Out of this World when she spots an asteroid through her telescope, and from her memory and constant tracking is able to confidently identify it and its whereabouts in outer infinite when it appears to be a danger of destroying her schoolhouse, Walkerville Elementary. (Si).

Unfortunately Dorothy Ann is a little too dependent on her books (something Carlos picks on her for) and is often dismissive of other forms of learning. She'southward forced out of her comfort zone in Blows Its Meridian after she loses her books in the bounding main, causing her to panic and becomes drastic to get them dorsum no matter what the consequences (junior Ne). With Ms Frizzle's encouragement to observe and ask questions, D.A  is introduced to the joy of learning via experience and is able to figure out via observation and memorisation how a volcano works and creates a new island. She even becomes excited in being office of the isle being formed.

She does have her more brilliantly insightful moments where we encounter her hypothesis for the hoop artifact of Arnold'due south. After several failed hypotheses, she learns of some similarly coloured arrows that came with the hoop and observes the scruff marks on the hoop. By seeing how hands it rolls across the basis and the coloured arrows get through the coloured webbing so hands, information technology leads her to the accurate hypothesis that the artifacts were nigh-likely an old tribal version of hoops and arrows (Ne).

Judging Functional Centrality:

Extroverted Thinking (Te) / Introverted Feeling (Fi)

D.A is all about keeping to the facts and getting things done in an orderly manner. Considering of this, she has a reputation for being bossy and rigid in her thinking, often making her disharmonism with more impulsive students, especially Carlos, who frequently butt-heads with her over their different styles of learning (Te-Fi).

Her organised and resourceful attitude comes in handy though when information technology comes to leading of import expeditions where a problem needs to be solved, such every bit leading and navigating the space-charabanc in Out of this World, solving the instance of the missing cocoa beans from Ms Frizzle's rented tree in In the Rainforest, and getting the school master, Mr Ruhle, a new chicken later on she loses his dear pet rooster, Giblets (Cracks a Yolk). She is quick to dismiss facts that seem casuistic and/or unimportant to her, just on occasions can experience insecure about her own facts if something else proves to be possible. Such every bit when she starts to feel uncertain if her asteroid was actually a comet afterwards the class sees a comet pass by the ship in the location she thinks the asteroid is supposed to exist, and she sees from observation of her smaller diagram that a comet will withal have the same dissentious effects every bit an asteroid. She's a large believer in teamwork, which causes her to barrel-heads with Wanda when she's partnered with her for a school projection, and the headstrong Wanda refuses to cooperate with her due to wanting to go solo. (Takes a Dive)

She is unremarkably a bit of an individualist in terms of her interests, such as being more interested in a book about physics (near notably most forces and friction) than the form baseball game, and is rather disappointed when Ralphie and the remainder of the form don't observe it cool besides. She yet doesn't change her opinion about finding physics cool, while the rest of the class (the most hesitant beingness Ralphie) are only convinced that physics is cool when Ms Frizzle takes them on a field trip to show that without forces and friction, they wouldn't be able to stand up, let alone play a ball game (Plays Ball).

Dorothy Ann experiences an identity scare when she loses her books in Blows Its Pinnacle, feeling she's zero without them and she'due south lost all of her knowledge: "Please, Ms. Frizzle! I'thou zip without my books! Me, books…books, me!" It's simply when she experiences learning via experience and retentivity does she figure out this isn't the case.

D.A rarely talks about her feelings, she instead acts on them. Despite her control-freak nature, D.A does accept a softer side, shown in Cracks a Yolk where she becomes smitten with the newly-hatched chick they plan to give to Mr. Ruhle, and kisses Arnold to give thanks him for being the baby-sitter and announcer of what was happening to the chick as it was developing. you lot know what the weirdest thing in the entire original magic school motorbus series was

so there was an episode virtually insulation, where the kids go out and insulate stuff and all that, typical magic school motorbus adventures

then they come up back and I think it's arnold who'southward using a thermos to keep his drink warm and this older kid comes past and is like "insulation am I correct" and the kids kind of stare and he continues on to say "yeah I had ms frizzle concluding year"

and that'southward when y'all realize that these kids age. ms frizzle ages. these kids won't have ms frizzle forever. time exists in this universe. and you besides brainstorm to question how one-time these kids are and what class they're in.

that episode completely shook my world
